Cetona is a medieval town in the Senese countryside, built on the slopes of the mountain which is its namesake. The town is nestled among olive groves, grape orchards and cypress trees and surrounded by the intense green and ochre hills of the Val di Chiana. Among its notable buildings are the main Church of the Holy Trinity (La Collegiata), the Convent of San Francesco and Belverde Archeological Park, which will make special your stay. In fact, this small village, of approximately 2,000 people, boasts of being part of the prestigious club "I Borghi più belli d'Italia" (one of the most beautiful town in Italy), and it has been awarded the "Orange Flag" of the Italian Touring Club for its natural beauties.
The heart of the town is designed in the typical Tuscan manner comprised of a central piazza with shops and artistic studios, the church, and where an outdoor market occupies the site once each week. The elegant, medieval Rivellino Tower rises at one end of the piazza.
At the base of the tower, you will find L'Osteria del Merlo, a restaurant renowned for its meats and seafood which is opened for lunch as well as dinner. The proprietors, Daniele and Elisa, invite you to dine with them. Select from their ever changing menu of Italian specialties accompanied by a rich and refined selection of Italian and foreign wines. Enjoy the magic atmosphere created by the ancient architecture, recently remodelled with a large outside terrace.
